Sarah Lawrie, CMT  :: Integrative Massage & Bodywork

About the therapist

Sarah's first massage gig was at the age of 5 in exchange for bubble gum: walking on her brothers' backs after sports practice. At 11, Sarah traded in her Nancy Drew series for medical encyclopedias and anatomy books. As a teen and young adult, it was the healing power of touch therapy that transformed chronic health issues she was experiencing. Sarah decided soon after to leave the wonderful world of non-profit work and dedicate herself to somatic healing arts.

"I take an integrative approach to massage and bodywork, focusing on the whole person - mind/body/spirit. I'm committed to studying an eclectic mix of techniques in an effort to see the whole picture and to optimize the body's innate abilities to heal itself.  In session, I seek out the source of the constriction rather than treating the symptoms, and work in concert with the body's messaging and healing systems to optimize care."

Sarah is a graduate of Potomac Massage Training Institute in Washington, DC, specializing at PMTI in Deep Tissue and Swedish massage. She is nationally-certified (NCBTMB) and a professional member with the Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals.  Sarah holds a state license as a professional massage therapist in Washington, DC (MT0774).  She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Penn State University in Communication Sciences and Disorders and specialized focus in Early Childhood Development.
