Modalities
CranioSacral Therapy (CST): subtle methods that assess and treat one of the body's base systems: the craniosacral system. The cerebrospinal fluid in the craniosacral system pulses around the brain and spinal chord in rhythm. This rhythm is read and techniques are employed to enhance flow, optimizing brain and nervous system function, and promoting well-being. The fascia system (connective tissue that envelopes muscles, organs and other soft tissue of body) is also gently but deeply addressed in CST. This modality nurtures the body's innate power to heal itself. Client is clothed in CST session.
Deep Tissue: techniques intended to sink into and open the deeper layers of muscles, and release tension in muscle tendon and skeletal ligature. Slow speed, deeper pressure. An athlete favorite. *Sarah recommends 75 minute or 90 minute session for Deep Tissue massage if client wishes for 2 or more areas to be addressed.
NeuroMuscular Therapy (NMT): deep tissue work intended to break ischemic cycles in tissue, eliminate trigger points, correct postural misalignments. Can be uncomfortable if adhesions and/or trigger points are present. An athlete favorite. *Sarah recommends 75 minute or 90 minute session for NMT session if client wishes for 2 or more areas to be addressed.
Pregnancy Massage: the childbearing body is an ever-changing landscape. The activity within is immense. Pregnancy massage is specialized work to serve both the mother and child.
Reflexology: massaging points in the feet (and sometimes hands and ears) that are reflex points to rest of the body-mind-spirit with goal of promoting general well-being and homeostasis.
Reiki: pronounced "ray key." Stimulating, balancing, releasing energy flow in the body. Technique is light touch and, at times, work is done above and behind body without touch. (Our energy field flows beyond our physical being.) When done exclusive of other modalities, client is clothed. Client may feel tingling or warm sensations during or post Reiki work.
Stretching: passive (muscle relaxed) and active (muscle engaged) stretches to open joints, increase range of motion and support fluid and energy flow.
Swedish massage: techniques intended to relax the system, boost immunity, increase circulation. The pressure is light to moderate with long sweeps to soothe and kneading to stimulate blood and lymph flow.
